An ode to mended things.
A six-week residency in Kyoto chasing the quiet beauty of repair. Shot on Portra 400 and a borrowed Mamiya 7, the series follows ceramicist Yumi Tanaka as she finishes a commission for a tea house in Higashiyama.
The work asks what gets gilded — the break, or the breaking? We spent more time in shadow than in sun. The light, when it came, felt earned.
